Help A PR Pro Out

Help a PR Pro Out is a movement that seeks to use social media to leverage relationships and help connect those seeking a job in the PR industry with employers. “This project spotlights best practices in social networking in the age of Web 2.0,” said PRSA Chair & CEO Gary McCormick.

History

#HAPPO was first announced by co-founder Arik Hanson on February 5, 2010, an the first live event took place two weeks later.  During that time, the movement drew more than 10,000 mentions in social media, including more than 250 mentions of #HAPPO by bloggers and 9,693 tweets using the hashtag.  By the day of the event @helpaprrproout and 1,000+ followers and there were more than 1,000 fans (including 61 active fans) on the Facebook page built by #HAPPO champion Mike Schaffer.  A formal program organized by #HAPPO champion Justin Goldsborough connected 10 job seekers with successful professionals for resume reviews

The movement has continued through quarterly events live events and daily conversation using the hashtag on Twitter, through the Facebook page and LinkedIn Group.
